The whole family loves to cook. We had a KitchenAid for years but not all of us are as gentle as others. I am not sure what happened but it started to shake and slowly lost power. It made cooking a chore because you had to watch it. We were going top get another one but after reading the reviews we decided to try the Cuisinart SM-55 and I am so glad we did!

The Cuisinart SM-55 is simply designed better. With the old mixer we got used to leaning back and holding our breath when we added more flour. You had to turn it off to scrape down the sides and the bottom otherwise you had undesirable chunks in your baking. Our new mixer is perfect.

The Cuisinart SM-55 has a splash guard that actually works and we never have to scrape down the sides anymore. I make double recipes of bread to feed the family. This mixer comes with a 5 quart bowl and the 800 watts of power handles double batches with ease. Since we never have to stop the machine to scrape the sides, the timer function is great. We have pizza dough down to a science and just let the Cuisinart SM-55 do our kneading. Also my kids can be rough on mixers. They slam them around to move them, they always drop the bowl and they never patiently mix in small amounts of anything. This mixer is handling their abuse with ease.

Another great thing about the Cuisinart SM-55 is that you can buy some pretty useful attachments for it. When we bought this we also got the Citrus Juicer attachment. Fresh orange juice with fresh bread is about as good as it gets.

The Cuisinart SM-55 has been a wonderful addition to our family kitchen. It comes with a dough hook, mixing paddle and chef’s whisk and we use them all. We are always cooking up something. We all crave bread, everyone loves cookies and the kids love making their own pizza dough. Having the Cuisinart SM-55 around has been a huge help and makes our time in the kitchen more fun.

Well the Margaritaville has some very impressive customer ratings on amazon.  There are currently over a hundred reviews and over 80 of those rank this frozen concoction maker at 5 stars.  There are only 7 people that gave it 1 or 2 stars.  The Margaritaville DM1000 is a very attractive machine and would look great either indoors or outside on an outdoor bar.  This frozen drinker will easily keep your party going by making real bar and restaurant quality drinks and other frozen concoctions that will please all your guests.

The first time I saw This, I knew I had to get one for my hubby as a graduation present.  He loves to drink margaritas but we can never get them to taste as good as when we buy them out.  This Margaritaville machine actually shaves the ice instead of chopping it like a blender would do. The Krups KB 720 Blender looks to be a very nice piece of equipment.  According to the website, it is very durablle, performs well, and is simple to clean.  The motor is very powerful and claims a 1000 watts, that is plenty strong enough to handle just about every kitchen task you need, from blending ice, making smoothies, to pureeing veggies to make soup.  It has five different speeds, and also includes a slow speed for those delicate blending needs, a button solely for crushing ice, and also a pulse button that works at any of the speeds.

There are currently a little over forty reviews from current owners on Amazon.com right now.  Although the average review is four stars, there are nine reviewers that gave the Krups KB 720 a one star rating.  That is a little unsettling in the fact that almost 25% of reviewers were not happy with this product.  I would say to keep that fact in mind if you are considering buying this blender.  There are a number of blenders that have very few, if any, one star ratings that you might also look into before making a final decision.

I just used for the first time I was a little concerned after reading all of the not so good reviews about whether this unit is able to blend frozen fruit. My first impressions though are very good . Smoothie with frozen strawberries (+ almond milk & protein powder) was nicely blended. Unit did turn itself off, either from an (unseen) auto timer or the heat sensor issues raised in other reviews, but my smoothie was finished anyway. The blender is very quiet, which is a huge bonus for me since my other blenders used to have me running for earplugs and I am sure didn’t make my neighbors to happy either.

UPDATE: Many smoothies later, I realize that maybe those that are  complaining about the lack of a “vortex” action probably didn’t follow the directions properly.  You have to start the blender on its lowest setting first, then once the material has been broken down, you can move it up the speed list. If you make it go too fast too soon, there is no vortex action. My smoothies are chock full of frozen stuff and this blender handles it well (if I follow the unit’s directions). Wonderful to be in the same room with an operating blender and not worry about hearing loss…

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

After having two blenders that just didn’t cut it, I wanted to finally get our home a good, strong blender.  The Breville Ikon BBL600xl Blender is easily the top blender we have ever had!

First, it is extremely powerful, you will not have any issues with blending ice or anything else that you want a blender for.  It has a great setting just for smoothies, and it actually changes the speed itself and makes the perfect smoothie without you having to do anything.  It then turns itself off when it is done making your smoothie, or any other presets, and it has a digital countdown timer so you know exactly how long till it’s done.

Maybe even the best thing about this blender though is that the container and blades are designed in a way that pretty much eliminates all the food that ends up stuck in the bottom of the blender.  In fact, after using it a few times, I was pleasantly surprised to find NO unblended pieces of food at the bottom of the blender. Everything was blended.

Another nice bonus is the fact that this is easily the quietest blender I have ever used or heard.  I don’t know how they did it because it has a very powerful motor, but it sounds great regardless.

The base and container are quite heavy and will stay put when you are blending. It giggles a little when blending on a high setting (there are sturdy rubber feet that help to reduce noise), but it won’t move on your counter. The container is made of thick glass, and you can wash the whole base in the dishwasher (the glass part in the bottom rack, the other parts in the top rack). The container lid has a sturdy ring that makes it very easy to pull off the tight-fitting lid. Don’t let the pics fool you: that little ring is thicker than it looks.

Some blenders have plastic containers and some have glass, like this one. The advantage of plastic is really just the (usually) cheaper cost and lighter weight. The disadvantage is that plastic containers may crack (as ours did) and leak plastic molecules into your food over time as the container ages. Most plastics are carcinogenic, so I like to avoid plastic containers if at all possible, since this one is glass, and very thick, it is relatively safe. The markings on the side of the container are easy to read, so it’s not difficult to use it as a measuring container when adding food, particularly liquids.
